5 Poker Tips for Playing On The Bubble

Being a beginner poker player in the bubble can be one of the scariest places to be. You’re so close but just one error could prove fatal for your poker tournament hopes and dreams! But don’t worry, Pocket52 is here with five helpful tips on how you can survive it all.

1. Apply Pressure with Big Stacks

You don’t want to let your stack dwindle down. If you’re holding a lot of chips, then raise and continuation bet more often than usual! You’ll have the advantage here because short stacks will just be trying for their cashouts while you can use this strategy to grow your own stack even further in no time.

2. Watch Out for Other Big Stacks

You should always be aware of what is going on around the table. Make sure you are playing enough hands to stay in contention, but keep an eye out for other big stacks that could threaten your tournament progress as well!

3. Tight is Right for Short Stacks

It’s not always easy, but sometimes it pays off to tighten your play as a short stack. For example, you may be tempted to take some risks and get involved when there are stacks shorter than yours at the table; however, if they’re too much of an underdog then maybe tone down so that your opponents bust first.

4. Patience at Bubble

You’ll want to reach the money, but don’t let your ego get in the way. Don’t force it – patience is key in bubble situations and you can wait for other players with shorter stacks to bust out before folding lots of hands. Make sure that when opportunities do come up, make them count!

5. Don’t Be Afraid to Bust a bubble

You can’t be afraid to make a move when you see the opportunity. It’s not nice being in that bubble, but if there is an opening where you should get it in, go for it! Make sure to stack up some chips, keep your eyes open, and don’t wait around just hoping something will happen because this game isn’t about wishing–it’s about playing smartly with what opportunities come along.
