Pot Limit

In this variant, you can raise the bet by matching the total amount in the pot. If the total amount in the pot is 100 and the first player has to take an action in the betting round and he places a 40, then the second player can bet a total of 60 only. In this type, you can raise as many times as you want.

No Limit

In this game variant, there are no betting limits. You can bet as much as you want. It can also mean putting the entire stack on stake. As per the minimum bet amount rule, it is equal to that of the Big Blind.

Limit Poker

You can place bets four times during all betting rounds in this variant. The bets can be one of Raise, Re-raise, and the final Raise. Here, the Bet, as well as the Raise, are agreed upon before the game starts. 

Texas Holdem Rules

The second-best Texas Holdem poker hand on the list is called the straight Flush. This hand includes a continuous poker hand sequence. In other words, it has five cards of the same suit. If there is a tie, and two players make the same poker hands, then the decision is based on the High Card. 

3. Four of a Kind

The third-best hand is Four of a Kind or Quad. On this hand, you have four cards of the same rank, and the other card is of a different rank. If the two players have the same hand, then four aces will beat four kings, and so on. 

4. Full House

As the name says, the fourth highest hand on the list or the Full House is a hand that has three cards of one rank and a pair of another rank. If there is a tie, the higher three-hand player has to be the winner. 

5. Flush

The Flush is also one of the poker card hands in which you have five cards of the same suit. If two players end up making a Flush, then the High Card will decide the winner. 

6. Straight

If you make consecutive cards of different suits, then the hand is called a straight poker hand. You also need to know that the biggest straight is a high Straight, and the lowest possible straight is a five-high straight. 

7. Three of a Kind

9. One Pair

10.  High-card

In NL Texas Hold’em, a marker called ‘the dealer button’ indicates which player is the dealer for the current round. this button shifts to the left-hand side of the current player in every game round.

Every table has a set value of blinds on which all the players agree to play on. Before the game begins, the player clockwise adjacent to the button posts the ‘small blind’. The small blind is the first forced bet in any round.

The player immediately clockwise from the small blind posts the ‘big blind’. The big blind is twice the size of the small blind, quite usually. Each player may also be required to post an ‘ante’ according to the decided pattern of the game. The game begins with, each player receiving his or her hole cards. Betting action proceeds clockwise around the table, starting with the player ‘under the gun’ (immediately clockwise from the big blind).

Player Betting Options Texas Hold’em, the available actions are to ‘fold’, ‘check’, ‘bet’, ‘call’ or ‘raise’. The Precise availability of the options depends on the previous actions that must’ve taken place on the table. If nobody has yet made a bet, then a player may either check (deny betting but hold their cards) or bet. Once a player posts a bet, then the subsequent players can only fold, call or raise. Calling is the action of matching the previous bet. To raise is to increase the previous bet amount.

Pre-flop: technically, this is the first of the four betting rounds in this game. In this round, you get the first two-hole cards in the pre-flop. The first player has three options: call, raise, or fold.

Flop: In this round, three community cards are dealt on the table face-up. This is called ‘the flop’. Betting on the flop resumes with the player clockwise adjacent to the dealer button. The betting options are similar to pre-flop, however, if nobody has previously bet, players may opt to check, passing the action to the next active player clockwise called Under the gun position (UTG).

Turn: After the betting action is over in the flop, the ‘turn’ card is dealt on the board face-up. The turn is sometimes also called ‘Fourth Street’.

River: In this last round, the final community card is dealt face-up on the table. 

Showdown: All the players remaining in the game start to show their cards. If you have the best five-card poker hand, you can win all the money in the pot.
